FAQs

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a clinical science dedicated to the improvement of movement, function and well-being by physical means.

The word “physiotherapy” comes from the Greek words phusis meaning “natural” and therapia meaning “therapy”.

Physiotherapists are experts in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation using non-invasive evidence-based techniques and are an important part of the modern medical system.

How does it work?

Initial appointments usually involve a thorough client interview, physical assessment and treatment planning based on client goals.

Categories of treatment are divided into five main sections: manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, education, physical aids and electro-physical agents.

Clinical reasoning, the latest research and client collaboration will determine the most effective approach for your needs.

Can I benefit from physiotherapy?

Anyone can benefit from a physiotherapy consultation — even just to set some general health goals and be guided through a realistic plan to achieve them.

For more specific conditions please see those listed on the home page.

How much does it cost?

Initial consultations (50 minutes) cost $120 and follow-up appointments (30 minutes) cost $90. Fees may be covered by health insurance, Medicare, DVA, CTP or Workers’ Compensation.

The number and timeline of appointments recommended for you will be discussed in your initial consultation.
